le refuge des jeunes

The youth men welcomed to the Refuge come from all over Canada. Most of them are undereducated, without regular income, or coping with different physical and mental health problems and dependencies. One out of two youths has a history of one or more stays in a Youth Centre or a foster family. Most are living in great residential instability, prey to situations of vulnerability. The Refuge then must intervene quickly and effectively, before the young men’s conditions worsen.
The Refuge also plays a role in raising public awareness about the situation of young homeless men. It supports activities to defend and promote the rights of youths who are homeless and in difficulty. All these facets make the organization an essential factor in the community.

For every young man who arrives at the Refuge there is an new story and an urgency to take action. Read the testimonials of Abdelkrim and Max by clicking on the link in the right column.
